Activities

Creative Movement Ages 2.5-3 years old:
This level is for very young children who are just starting to take ballet, and is designed for the child that loves to move and dance with the music. The aim of this class is for students to have fun while exploring the beginning steps of ballet, incorporating many props to assist the young dancer in the exploration of movement. The class places an emphasis on developing the dancer's fine and gross motor skill development, coordination, and balance in a safe and nurturing environment.

Pre-Ballet Ages 4-5 years old:
This class develops the movement first explored in Princesses Ballet, and begins to teach the students basic ballet terms and concepts. This class is designed to assist the very young dancer in identifying basic forms of movement through imaginative games, songs, music and rhythmical patterns. The class also encourages the students to take turns and listen to the directions from the teacher.

Ballet Camp Ages 6-8:
Program includes: Technique of Classical Ballet, Stretch, Modern/Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Drama, languages.

Summer Intensive Ages 9-11:
Program includes: Technique of Classical Ballet, Pointe, Beginning Variation, Stretch and conditioning, Character Dance, Repertoire, Modern/Jazz, Musical Theatre, Broadway, Nutrition.

Summer Intensive Ages 12-14:
Program includes: Technique of Classical Ballet, Pointe, Variation, Stretch, Character Dance, Repertoire, Modern/Jazz, Musical Theatre, Broadway, Nutrition, Injury Prevention.

Summer Intensive Ages 15+:
Program includes: Technique of Classical Ballet, Pointe, Variation, Stretch, Character Dance, Repertoire, Modern/Jazz, Musical Theatre, Broadway, Nutrition, Injury Prevention.

Professional Accreditations

About our Founding Artistic Directors:

Mrs. Svetlana Kravtsova is the Founding Artistic Director of L’Etoile/The Russian Ballet Academy of Maryland, LLC. A graduate of Ballet Academy of Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Kravtsova completed full 8 years of professional Ballet Academy training with disciplines such as Classical Ballet, Pointe, Variation, Pas-de-Deux, Character Dance, Historical Court Dance, Moldavian Country Dance, Music History, History, of Arts, History of Ballet, History of World Theater, History of Ancient Roman and Ancient Greek Theater, Ethics, Esthetics, Piano, Repertoire (includes participation at professional ballet performances at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Republic of Moldova. Mrs. Kravtsova was taught by the world renown ballet teacher and choreographer, Maria Lazareva, as well as G. Yanson, A. Smolentsev. All of the teachers were graduates of Vaganova Academy of Ballet, St. Petersburg, Russia. After graduation, she danced as a Principal soloist at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Republic of Moldova for 20 years, while simultaneously teaching ballet. She has taught classical ballet in a professional ballet Academy in Moldova and was recognized as an outstanding teacher. Ms. Kravtsova was professionally trained in the Vaganova syllabus and has been teaching it since 1982. Mrs. Kravtsova has over 40 years of professional ballet experience. In 1997, Mrs. Kravtsova and her family moved to the United States, where she continued her career as a professional ballet teacher. Mrs. Kravtsova has been invited to guest teach summer intensive classes around the United States. She taught at various schools in Indianapolis, IN and Baltimore/Washington DC metro area prior to opening her own studio. Mrs.Kravtsova is ABT Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the ABT National Training Curriculum. Mrs. Kravtsova teaches students of all levels at her own school. She has also taught at one of the most prestigious schools in the world: The Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington DC, where she remains a guest teacher. Mrs. Kravtsova is also a Judge for the World Ballet Arts Competition Grand Prix, Canada. Ms. Svetlana Cravtova has recently changed the spelling of her last name to: Kravtsova.

Mr. Vadim Pijicov is the ballet master at L’Etoile Ballet Academy, LLC. He received his education at the world famous and most prestigious Academy of Russian Ballet A. Vaganova in St. Petersburg, Russia. He completed full 8 years of professional Ballet Academy training with disciplines such as Classical Ballet, Pointe, Variation, Pas-de-Deux, Character Dance, Historical Court Dance, Music History, History, of Arts, History of Ballet, History of World Theater, History of Ancient Roman and Ancient Greek Theater, Ethics, Esthetics, Piano, Repertoire (includes participation at professional ballet performances at Mariinsky Ballet Theater). Mr. Pijicov had some of the most famous and world renown ballet teachers, such as, N. Serebrenyakov, I. Gensler, O. Sokolov. After graduating, he enjoyed a spectacular career as a Principal Ballet Dancer with the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Republic of Moldova, where he danced all major Principal and Soloist roles. Mr. Pijicov has also worked as a Principal Dancer at the prestigious Liliana Cozi/Shtefanescu Ballet Company of Regio-Emilia, Italy, and as a soloist with Ballet Internationale of Indianapolis, IN. Mr. Pijicov was awarded the Best Partner Award at the International Ballet Competition, Oleg Danovsky, Constanza, Romania. Mr. Pijicov began his teaching career at Ballet Academy of Republic of Moldova and he has further expanded his pedagogic career by teaching at various schools, such as Baltimore School For The Arts, around the United States. His career as a professional ballet dancer was concluded in 2004 and since then, his focus has been entirely dedicated to pedagogy. Currently, Mr. Pijicov is a faculty member of Kirov Academy of Ballet, Washington DC. He is also a Judge for the World Ballet Arts Competition Grand Prix, Canada.

Description

L’Etoile, the Russian Ballet Academy of Maryland, opened its doors in 2007. Since then, L’Etoile has excelled at providing professional ballet training while keeping a small and amicable atmosphere. All classes have a small amount of students, ensuring individual attention for each student from the teacher. The student’s hard work and training is presented in our annual Nutcracker and Spring Performance. In the years the studio has been open, L’Etoile has produced and performed the full length Nutcracker, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire (Le Jardin Anime), Don Quixote (Dream Scene), La Bayadere (Act II), the Artistic Director’s own production, Le Masquerade, as well as five concert programs entitles “A Tribute to Classical Ballet.” Students are always accepted into the world’s best schools, such as Bolshoi, ABT, and the Kirov Academy of Ballet, for summer intensive programs. Graduates have also been accepted into collegiate dance programs at Towson University, University of Utah, Butler University, University of the Arts, and Point Park University.

​​L’Etoile faculty and staff aim at providing a safe and friendly environment where students feel free to express themselves in movement. Faculty are fully dedicated to teaching the pure Vaganova syllabus, providing a Russian style of classical ballet. L’Etoile’s goal is to form well-trained and diverse dancers, preparing them for the world of ballet outside of the studio.
